Pellergy was founded in 2006 with a goal to provide an affordable, renewable home heating energy alternative to #2 Fuel Oil.

The idea came about as founder, Andy Boutin was looking to install an add-on wood boiler to his existing heating system. Finding no boiler manufactured for use with the existing steam heating system, an idea took shape: How could one use the existing boiler, but fire it with an alternative fuel? Andy soon teamed up with a long-time friend and fellow engineer from New Hampshire and a business associate with combustion engineering experience from Vermont. Together, they set forth to find a solution. Using systems engineering principals, the team performed trade studies, market surveys and analyses and investigated technologies and advancements in: BioDiesel, BioPellet (Grass, Corn, Low-Grade Wood), Solar, Wind, Hydrogen, Methane & Wood. The team came to one conclusion: Wood pellet conversion of existing heating systems was best suited to meet New England's demanding heating needs.

In the next month's the Pellergy team identified technology partners in Sweden and Finland to team with to bring a mature product to the U.S. market. The team adapted these existing designs for compatibility with North American electrical systems and began a pilot project test firing wood pellets from a variety of pellet manufacturers.

Pellergy has obtained the exclusive North American design, manufacture and marketing rights to the PB-3550 wood pellet burner technology. Pellergy LLC will manufacture all systems in the USA. All systems will be tested to UL/ANSI and ASTM applicable standards.
